Chemical Peels Biomedic Micropeel
A safe and effective procedure that can be customized to fit any skin type, this state-of-the-art chemical peel can improve the skin's clarity, tone, color and texture. The BioMedic MicroPeel® is a three-step process that removes a micro-thin top layer of skin. This layer of skin consists of clogged pores that obstruct the development of healthy, beautiful skin. This unique procedure produces smooth, vibrant, youthful-looking skin through the combination of dermaplaning, alpha-hydroxy acid and cryogenic therapy.
What happens during the Biomedic Micropeel procedure?
1. The first step in the MicroPeel® process is a manual exfoliation. This results in an immediate change in skin texture and is done through a process called dermaplaning. If dermaplaning is not right for you, exfoliation can be done using the BioMedic Pure Enzyme.
2. Next, we do a chemical exfoliation using either a lactic or glycolic acid. A slight stinging sensation may occur when the acid solution is applied to the skin, but it is only momentary. The solution is then neutralized after the desired exfoliation is attained. At this point, extractions will be done to free your pores of impacted debris.
3. The final step in this process is cryogenic therapy. This is a skin freezing process where carbon dioxide is applied to the face in light, circular motions. The frosty mist released by the carbon dioxide immediately relieves inflammation, cools the skin and infuses antibacterial oxygen.
What will the downtime be after the Biomedic Micropeel procedure?
Sun exposure should be avoided for two weeks following any type of exfoliation. You may experience minor peeling depending on the customization of the procedure, however, there is usually no downtime associated with the BioMedic MicroPeel®.
By shedding its dead outer layer, your skin will undergo a renewal process that lasts approximately one week. You may or may not experience peeling depending on your skin. If peeling occurs, it usually begins 2 to 4 days following your procedure and lasts for approximately three days. Due to the rapid exfoliation, you may experience mild itching and irritation. Sun exposure should be avoided for two weeks following the procedure and sun block should always be worn.
Pre and post care before your Biomedic Micropeel procedure
Before receiving either the MicroPeel® or the MicroPeel® Plus you will prepare your skin by using the products recommended during your consultation.
You must discontinue the use of any retinol products (RetinA®, Tretinoic acid, etc) or medical exfoliants for at least one week prior to the procedure.
If taking Accutane orally, you must stop taking it one year prior to any procedures.
Avoid prolonged sun-exposure or tanning for 10 days prior to your procedure.
After your Biomedic Micropeel procedure
For the 72 hours following the procedure, you will use only a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sun-protection. Any active home care products can be continued after 72 hours or after any flaking has dissipated. Do not pull on skin which is peeling off as this may cause scarring.
